How to Choose Fixing Screws

Our resin pipe fasteners do not come with screws for securing to walls or other surfaces. This is because the optimal screw varies depending on the type and thickness of the mounting target (base material) and whether a pedestal is used. This article explains the basic principles for correctly selecting mounting screws.

What You’ll Learn in This Article

・Basic specifications of mounting screws suitable for our products

・Recommended screw diameter and the reasons behind it

・Guidelines for determining screw length

・Key points to keep in mind during installation

Basic Concepts for Mounting Screws

The mounting screws discussed here refer to those used to secure the product body to walls or floors.

* Please note that this is different from the bolts and nuts (included accessories) used to assemble the clamp and its individual parts.

Recommended Screw Diameter: M6

The screw holes on our resin saddle bands, resin pedestals, and resin T-brackets are designed for M6 (6mm diameter) screws as the standard.

Reasons for Recommending M6

・Fits securely in the mounting holes without wobbling

・Distributes the load applied to the resin components and reduces the risk of damage

* Using screws thinner than M5 may cause wobbling or unstable mounting.

How to Determine Screw Length

Please select the screw length using the following guidelines.

【Calculation Guidelines】

Screw Length = Thickness of the Mounting Section × "2 to 3 Times" or More

Examples of Mounting Section Thickness

Resin Saddle Band: Approximately 5mm (some sizes are approximately 7mm)

Resin Pipe Clamp Bracket Set: Approximately 8.5mm

Resin Pipe Clamp with T-Bracket: Approximately 8.5mm

【Recommended Screw Length: 20mm or More】

Based on the above, our company recommends a length of "20mm or more" as a guideline. Depending on the type of base material and if you are using stacked pedestals, you may need an even longer screw.

About Pilot Hole Drilling

If the mounting target is a hard material (wood, plastic, metal, etc.), we recommend drilling a pilot hole before installation.

・Makes it easier to drive the screw smoothly and improves workability

・Prevents excessive stress on the resin components and can prevent cracking

Summary

・Recommended screw diameter is M6

・Select a screw length of 20mm or more as a guideline

Choosing the correct screw will lead to stable, long-term secure fastening.
