How to Use Plastic Pipe Strap Clamps: From Measuring to Installation

Resin Saddle Clamps are products used to secure pipes to mounting surfaces like walls or floors. They have an extremely simple structure, but the fixing state and workability can vary depending on the selection of fixing screws and the tightness of the fastening. In this article, we will explain the basic usage and installation methods for the resin saddle clamps and resin saddle clamp bases that we carry.

* The basic procedure is the same for the Anti-Vibration Resin Saddle Clamps as well.

  • Role and usage of resin saddle clamp bases
  • Key points to note during installation

Basic Structure of Resin Saddle Clamps

Resin saddle clamps are made up of the following components:

  • The band section for holding the pipe
  • The fixing section for passing the mounting screw through

Basic Installation Steps

1. Measure the Pipe’s Outer Diameter

Measure the outer diameter of the pipe you are installing, and select the appropriate resin saddle clamp with the matching nominal diameter Ø (mm). Be sure to use the actual outer dimension (mm) as your reference, not the nominal pipe size (A).

2. Determine the Fixing Location

Mark the location on the wall, floor, or other surface where you want to secure the pipe.

3. Temporary Placement and Align the Screw Holes

Clamp the pipe in place with the resin saddle clamp, and temporarily position it to align the mounting hole locations.

4. Fasten with the Fixing Screw

Fasten the clamp vertically to the base using the fixing screws (M6 recommended). Fixing screws are not included with our products, so please prepare them separately.

Role and Usage of Resin Saddle Clamp Bases

The resin saddle clamp bases are spacers designed to be inserted between the resin saddle clamp and the mounting surface.

Key Roles

  • Height adjustment: Use this when you want to lift the pipe off the mounting surface
  • Level adjustment: Useful for making fine height adjustments on surfaces with unevenness

Key Usage Tips

  • Each single base provides 5mm of height
  • Multiple bases can be stacked for added height
  • Use screws of the appropriate length based on the number of stacked bases

Important Installation Notes

Avoid Over-Tightening

Fastening with excessive torque can cause the resin near the mounting holes to whiten or crack. If using an impact driver, be careful not to damage the resin, and we recommend making final adjustments by hand tightening.

Select Screws Suitable for the Base Material

Choose screws (such as tapping screws) of the appropriate length for the fixing base material, whether it be wood, concrete, metal, or another surface.

Mismatched Nominal Diameters

If the nominal diameter does not match, the pipe may rotate or the clamp may lift off the surface, making secure fastening impossible.

Summary

By selecting the correct size and fastening the screws properly, you can maximize the performance of your resin saddle clamps. For jobs that require height adjustment, consider combining our resin saddle clamp bases for flexible installation.
